This address allows your customers as well as any interested user to visit your online store. ■ Domain Name Systems - DNS This is the database of all domain names; however, each domain has a specific DNS entry related to it. The DNS allows all users to access a website through its name and not through its complicated IP address made from a hard-to-remember sequence of numbers. Several important settings branching out of the DNS: A record The A record helps in determining if there’s a specific IP address linked to the domain name. CNAME record This setting is useful for pointing subdomains to other domain names. ■ Domain classification ■ Primary domain This is the domain name which will be visible in the browser’s address bar while users surf through your online store. Only 1 primary domain can be chosen independently from its type. ■ Root domain This is the domain name purchased directly from Ecomz or any third-party domain provider. The prefix is not included since you have to set it up later on but the suffix is there. For example ecomz.com is a root domain. ■ Subdomain This type of domain is an added prefix to the root domain and it’s used to classify the website’s information in a way that users can easily find what they’re seeking. A good example is www.ecomz.com in which www. is the subdomain. ■ SSL certificate When this security protocol is activated, the secure padlock will be visible at the beginning of the address bar in the browser meaning that all information exchanged between the user and the server is secured and the connection is safe.
