■ Customizability:

Since Product Recommendation is an automated feature that uses advanced AI technology to offer recommendations, the options within this feature are predefined and you may choose to enable or disable each option within the feature!

On the other hand, Upsell/Cross-sell offers you the ability to create custom campaigns and choose which products you'd like to recommend. You configure your own campaigns as you desire!

■ Algorithm:

In the Product Recommendation app, products are recommended based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) techniques that predict the most relevant products based on the customer’s shopping journey. Such advanced techniques ensure a personalized recommendation for each customer.

In the Upsell/Cross-sell app, you'll have to manually configure your campaigns based on your own research and analytics. Predefined settings may be available depending on purchase history & most viewed products.

■ Purpose:

The Product Recommendation feature is exclusively used for recommending products based on algorithms.

The Upsell/Cross-sell feature offers, in addition to recommending products, the ability to add discounts for items purchased together.
